Unprotected America

With the Democrats in control of Congress and soon-to-be the Presidency they're attack on America has begun. Despite campaign promises the Democrat speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi, has already made rules that eliminates debate and participation by the minority party. Yes folks, we've returned to the early days of the Clinton presidency. The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid -D, has been spouting off about which Senators he will accept in the Senate and has even said that he selects who sits in the Senate. Why do Americans vote on Senators? Here's one of the first pieces of legislation to come through the new Congress. This version is worse than the original version that previously failed in Congress.

Minutemen Cry Foul on Democrat Passage of SCHIP Bill

Phoenix, AZ--Minuteman PAC Honorary Chairman, Chris Simcox, today called on congressional leaders to explain to the American people why a massive spending bill--so-called State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)--was hurredly passed on the floor of U.S. House of Representatives with very little warning and with no committee hearing.
Simcox declared, “SCHIP was a controversial bill when it was first introduced last year. Now, the Democrat leaders in the House have forced through a vote on the bill without giving minority members time to review it and without telling the American public. This smells of underhandedness and scandal. The Congress was created by the Founders to be a representative body, not an out-of-control elitist group that sneaks around in the night.”
SCHIP was originally devised as a proposal to provide health care coverage to the nation’s poorest American children. However, the newer version just-passed today has been revised to allow for benefits to children of illegal aliens; removes the $80,000 income cap; and limits states’ ability to prove citizenship status of beneficiaries.

Simcox continued, “If SCHIP is passed by the Senate and signed by the President, it will cost American taxpayers billions in new taxes--certainly the last thing we need in a tough economy. What’s worse, it will flash a bright green light to all would-be illegal immigrants that essentially tells them, ‘Come on over. We’ll give you free health care.’ Again, it’s not only illegal and unconstitutional, but more weight on an already broken social net will spell disaster for the American economy.”
